On 1 August of this year, the Synod of the Latvia district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia Abroad (LELBĀL) took place in Riga, at which a woman pastor was elected as dean in Latvia for the first time – Ieva Puriņa.
The new dean electa Rev. Ieva Puriņa gained the support of the Synod of the Latvia district of the LELBĀL and will continue the work of her predecessor, Rev. Kārlis Žols.
Mag. Theol. Ieva Puriņa is an active member of the Latvian Lutheran Women Theologians’ Association (LLSTA) and is also a certified doula.
