Teoloģijas studentu pētījumi

20. Feb, 2018

From now on, the LLSTA website will feature exclusive research by students of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia. Quite some time ago the idea arose to involve theology students in LLSTA’s activities, for several reasons. First, because the idea of forming the association originally arose precisely among the faculty’s students. The first members, together with the women pastors who had already been ordained, were theologians-in-training.

Despite the fact that in Latvia many women theologians have not had the opportunity to be ordained to the office of pastor, many graduates of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia serve as pastors in various countries around the world.

Second, because the faculty of theology carries out interesting research that does not always make it into publication. Our website is a good place for young researchers to publish. Third, because the website’s editorial board is interested in research touching on the question of women’s ordination, and sees a need to educate the public on questions of the equality of women and men, which also includes ministry in the church. For it is with precisely this purpose that the website was created.

The new project is led by University of Latvia professor Dace Balode. For now we offer the first of the students’ research works.
