Raise women’s voices, renew the church
From time to time, news appears on the LLSTA website about what is happening in the lives of women theologians in other denominations. This time we will briefly sketch the initiative of Catholic women with the wonderful name “Catholic Women Preach”.
Catholic Women Preach (Catholic Women Preach) is an innovative project created with the aim of drawing attention to a greater and broader involvement of the baptised Catholic faithful in the preaching mission of the Catholic Church. The intention of the project is to build up the church.
The “Catholic Women Preach” project:
- offers the chance to become acquainted with the perspectives of theologically educated Catholic women and serves as an inspiration, as well as providing theological resources to ordained priests, deacons, catechumens and others who serve through the word in the Catholic Church;
- encourages Catholics, especially young people, to preach a message of hope that renews faith, strengthens and encourages a more active involvement in the life of the congregation;
- provides a global platform on which women’s voices and reflections on faith can be heard, so that the gifts of the Catholic faith received by women may be available to all Catholics.
“Catholic Women Preach” follows the church’s liturgical year. In accordance with this calendar, Catholic women reflect on how the texts of the Holy Scriptures relate to all the Catholic faithful today, emphasising the significance of these texts in the lives of women, their apostolic calling and their role in the church and the world.
The preaching of these women brings to light those women who have traditionally either been left out of the readings and stories of the Holy Scriptures, or about whom misleading information has been preached. Such ministry is necessary in order to deepen our understanding of God’s saving presence in the world. The Catholic women involved in preaching place a very high value on personal spirituality in their lives.
This project offers a well-built, resource-rich and easily accessible website CatholicWomenPreach.org , where anyone can draw inspiration.
Those interested can also sign up to receive regular information and resources by email.
