Lauma Zušēvica was consecrated as LELBĀL Archbishop!
On 19 April this year, Lauma Zušēvica was consecrated as LELBĀL Archbishop, continuing the ministry of Elmārs E. Rozītis. The archbishop’s consecration service took place in Milwaukee (WI), at “Mount Zion” Lutheran Church.

Announcement from the Vice President of the LELBĀL Consistory, Chairman of the Election Commission, Juris Cilnis:
“Concluding the election process in October [2014], the election commission found that Dean Lauma Zušēvica had received 140 of a possible 205 votes and was elected bishop of the Latvian Ev. Luth. Church Abroad. The LELBĀL Consistory has confirmed the result, designating her office by the title ‘archbishop.’ Bishop is a general spiritual office, whereas ‘archbishop’ is the specific administrative title conferred by the Church Consistory. The previous archbishop, Elmārs E. Rozītis, did not stand again, and his term will end with the installation of the new archbishop in office. The election commission expresses its recognition of the distinguished clergy who also stood as candidates – Dean Dr. Andris Abakuks and Dean emer. Dr. Fritz T. Kristbergs.”
