Girls for a future

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on children all over the world, but especially on girls. The closure of schools put girls in particular at risk — not only by causing them to miss schoolwork for a time, but by forcing girls to drop out of school altogether, thereby losing the chance to determine their own future. At the same time, the safeguarding mechanisms at school that once worked well no longer function. In recent months the programs of the Lutheran World Federation that work with various countries have encountered a rise in sexual and gender-based violence, early marriage and adolescent pregnancy, and there is reason to believe that the situation will get worse.

Online and on social media, the LWF will share insights from this area of work, give girls the chance to speak about their experiences and provide information about the LWF’s education and protection officers. Please share these insights and support the LWF’s work to empower girls.
