The discussion “Is a woman a person in the church?” will take place as part of the “Lampa” conversation festival on 3 September of this year from 4:00–5:00 PM (Latvian time). Due to epidemiological safety considerations, many of this year’s Lampa discussions will take place online. The discussion “Is a woman a person in the church?” is organized by the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia and the Institute for Integration and Peace in cooperation with the Latvian Lutheran Women Theologians’ Association (LLSTA).
The discussion will be moderated by Professor Dr. Dace Balode, who is the dean of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia, a pastor, and a member of the LLSTA board.
The discussion’s guests will be bishop emerita and LLSTA chairwoman Jāna Jēruma-Grīnberga and Dr. iur., assoc. prof. Kristīne Dupate, national expert of the European Commission in the fields of gender equality law, labour law, and the free movement of labour.
