” When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all gathered together in one place; and suddenly there came from heaven a roaring, as if a strong wind were blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting, and there appeared to them what seemed like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance…
But Peter, standing with the eleven, began to speak and said to them: “You Jews and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words; these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day, but here is fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Joel: it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And also upon My menservants and My maidservants I will pour out of My Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders above in the heavens and signs below on the earth: blood and fire, and smoke and vapor. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes. And everyone who calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts, ch. 2)
