9. Sep, 2014

In a letter that Lutheran World Federation General Secretary Martin Junge addressed to the congregations in West Africa, he expressed deep appreciation for the “self-sacrificing commitment” of medical workers, congregation communities and volunteers  to halt the spread of Ebola in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

“With deep sorrow we follow the daily news of the catastrophic Ebola epidemic that has struck several West African countries, in particular Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Our sympathy is with the many families and individuals who have suffered [from the consequences of this epidemic], including in the congregations of our federation. We are moved by the self-sacrifice of the medical workers in caring for the sick and saving their lives,” said Junge.

Prepared in accordance with LWF news of 29 August.
