Right now, in Madagascar’s third-largest city, Antsirabe, a national Lutheran women’s conference is taking place, organized by the Lutheran World Federation, in which the pastor Theol. Dr. Elaine Neuenfeldt, who is responsible at the LWF for the issues of women in congregations and society, is participating.
The Lutheran churches in Madagascar do not ordain women, yet several women have obtained a theological education. Today more than 10,000 women took part in the conference in Antsirabe. Tomorrow E. Neuenfeldt will meet with more than 140 women theologians of Madagascar.
