The Ecumenical Christian Council of Guatemala invited LWF General Secretary Rev. Martin Junge to preach at an ecumenical service in the cathedral of the Catholic Church in Guatemala on justice, peace and reconciliation.
“It is necessary to establish truth, so that we can live in justice, peace and reconciliation,” said Junge.
The social, economic, environmental and political conditions in Central America make it one of the most vulnerable regions in the world. In Central America there is still a very high level of violence, as well as the exploitation of indigenous people, particularly women.
In his address at the ecumenical service in the Guatemala cathedral, Junge said: “Peace without justice and reconciliation is an imposed peace”.
