Project – Research by students of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia

11. Dec, 2015

From now on, exclusive research by students of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia will be available to read on the LLSTA website. The idea of involving theology students in LLSTA activities arose quite some time ago, for several reasons. Firstly, because the idea of forming the association originally arose precisely among the faculty’s students. The first members, together with the already ordained pastors, were aspiring theologians.

Despite the fact that in Latvia many women theologians have not had the opportunity to be ordained to the office of pastor, many graduates of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia serve as pastors in various countries around the world.

Secondly, because interesting research is carried out at the Faculty of Theology that does not always make it into publications. Our website is a good publication venue for young researchers. Thirdly, because the website’s editorial board is interested in research that touches on the question of women’s ordination, and sees the need to educate society on questions of the equality of women and men, which also includes serving in the church. For it is precisely with this purpose that the website was created.

The new project is led by University of Latvia professor Dace Balode.

We now invite you to get acquainted with the first student research works in the subsection – Bible – Theology students’ research.
