On the evening of 2 October, Maija Cepure-Zemmele, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia Abroad, passed away in the peace of God. Maija passed away peacefully, without pain, without suffering, without fear, as her life partner Ivars recounted. Let us be in prayer with Ivars during this difficult time.
The funeral will take place on Friday, 9 October, at 11:00 (visitation at 10:00), at the St. Paul’s Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, with the sermon given by Archbishop Lauma Zušēvica. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis.
The Association of Lutheran Women Theologians of Latvia expresses its deepest condolences to the loved ones of Pastor Maija! May the peace of God, which is higher than all understanding, accompany you. May the hope of Christ not forsake us, but turn our gaze to the Lord of glory, who awaits His children in eternal peace and happiness.
